今回は黒人運動の代名詞「Martin Luther King Jr. キング牧師」から一部例文を紹介します。

リトル・マーティンはスピルチュアルな少年で、代々続くアトランタの牧師の家系に生まれました。

黒人だからという理由で立ち去るように言われたとき、マーティンはショックを受けました。

このひどい出来事は「セグリゲーション(隔離)」と呼ばれていました。

やさしい内容になってることは間違いないのですが、重要なポイントが非常にしっかりまとまっていてストーリー展開が自然。キング牧師の超有名な演説「I have a dream.」の部分では普通に感動してしまいました。

わりとマイナーな人物まで幅広いラインナップなので、ついつい全部読んでみたくなります。教養をつけるのにもお手頃。絵本→児童書へのステップアップにぜひ利用してみてください。
